This awe-inspiring waterfall is just a 30 minute scenic drive away, beautiful during every season of the year. The parking lot is just after crossing the state border and has a great view itself. A short hike takes you to the scenic overlook of the falls and a longer more strenuous hike would take you down to the river.

Great waterfall view with various walking/hiking options! They say it is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies! Walk on the paved path and enjoy sitting on the bench or on a picnic table. You can view the waterfall from the paved path, or walk down about 150 steps to the lowering viewing platform. If you are up for more of challenge, you can continue down to the river for a more adventurous hike!

Walk a quarter-mile paved trail (accessible for wheelchairs or scooters) to see the mighty Upper Whitewater Falls across the valley, plummeting 411 feet. Also, take a staircase down to a second overlook. It’s located in the Nantahala National Forest, about 60 miles from Asheville.
