5km walk each way from Waitangi to Haruru falls and back. Walk takes approx 2 hrs. Also not bad for a jog either although a little bumpy.
Great walk thru the bush parking in the Waitangi parking lot opposite the treaty grounds and ending up at the falls. Falls themselves aren't Niagara so don't get overly excited but the walk is beautiful and great on a hot day as most of the walk is under the tree canopy. Takes about 45 min- 1 hour each way.
These falls are just a few kilometers along the road from Waitangi to Kerikeri and well worth a visit. They can also be accessed via a wooded walk from Waitangi that follows the river upstream.
It's just freaking beautiful and you will love it, it's about a three hour hike from home all the way back to home again or the trail is about an hour walk from the falls to Waitangi.
This walk starts at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds (or Haruru Falls) and takes you up to the attractive horseshoe-shaped Haruru Falls. The walkway skirts the Waitangi Golf Course then follows the Waitangi River through native bush. Much of the walk runs along a boardwalk through a mature mangrove forest. We recommend returning along the same route, or organising other transport. Start point: Waitangi Treaty Grounds Length: 6km Time: 2.5 hours one way
