Even if you don't play golf the views from the club are spectacular. You can park the car from several locations and just enjoy the view. If you do play golf, I recommend the back 9 holes if it's a decision between 9 or 18 holes so that you get to enjoy the bay while playing. The course itself is quite good and they rent clubs and trolleys or carts.

This restaurant is in Russell. You can catch the ferry in town and it’ll drop you off within 50 meters of the restaurant in Russell. Great place for a special occasion dinner. Watch the sun set over the distant horizon as you sit 90 meters from the beach. The Duke is the oldest pub in all of NZ and has some interesting old photos.

Walks
This coastal walk takes you right in front of the house. A great walk with stunning views. If you walk to Paihia it will be about 20-25 minutes along the beachfront. If going in the opposite direction to Opua it's a coastal path along the cliffs (a bit more physical) and takes about 45 mins to an hour depending on fitness.
Paihia - Opua Coastal Walkway

Great walk thru the bush parking in the Waitangi parking lot opposite the treaty grounds and ending up at the falls. Falls themselves aren't Niagara so don't get overly excited but the walk is beautiful and great on a hot day as most of the walk is under the tree canopy. Takes about 45 min- 1 hour each way.
