Delicious food and wonderful people.

We had a fun evening and learned a lot on this food tour. Our host was kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the Tokyo food scene. The first stop was a real standout and felt like a hidden gem. We also enjoyed the second place, though the host did mention some frustration with the service. Unfortunately, we were not able to get into the third restaurant, and the final stop felt more like a casual diner, which the host even acknowledged. If you are a very serious foodie looking for top-tier bites at every turn, this might not be the best fit. That said, we appreciated the insights, the walk through different neighborhoods, and the cultural context along the way. There were definitely highlights and some great flavors, and we left having learned more about the local scene than we would have on our own.

I would recommend this tour if it's your first night in Osaka - it's a great intro to some of the quirky history of the city and the more niche food it offers. Our guide Ferdinand was great - funny, easy going, & kept everything running smoothly. (He also took care of a vegetarian option for me, which is not the easiest!) This tour steers clear of the more tourist-heavy areas like Dotonbori, which was great. As in the description, this is a tapas-focused tour, so you'll experience lots of small & very unusual dishes. If you want some of the Osaka hits like okonomiyaki or ramen, grab a different tour.

As a minor nit, this is one of those experiences that is fed from TripAdvisor, Viator, etc, so it has the feel of a more commercial food tour (eg our guide wasn't Kevin and there were a couple different groups for the tour.) There were also 7 people in our group, which was still fine - but just a slightly different experience than the 6 or less in the Airbnb description.
