Forget the crowded mayhem of Muir Woods. Here's a beautiful stand of redwoods next to a quiet creek that locals love. Excellent spot for a picnic. It can get crowded on weekends (but NEVER like Muir Woods), so if you go on Saturday/Sunday, try to get there before noon. If you can, visit on a weekday and you'll have the place to yourself. There's a wonderful 5-mile walking/biking trail on the old railroad right-of-way. It's a state park, so you'll need to pay (per car) to enter.
