Belem is Lisbon's smartest residential neighbourhood, located in the west-end, from where the caravels sailed off in the golden age of the discoveries. Lisbon's two most iconic monuments, the tower of Belem and the monastery of Jerónimos, as well as the Presidential palace are located here, as well as Lisbon's modern art museum and the concert hall. You have plenty of restaurants in close vicinity. You are surrounded by swathes of green and nice parks, and close by the river-front, ideal for jogging or cycling. The area is particularly safe, too.

The place where the Padrão dos Descobrimentos monument stands with a Park along with Mosteiro dos Gerónimos and Centro Cultural de Belém. Many things to see here! you can get to Belém by train, tram or bus.
