This is your #1 for coming here. Although it's a little underated to me, as it really isn't that big but it does capture the beautiful Maunga Taranaki perfectly. What's better is that it is just at the end of our road!!!

From the Lodge it is a 3.5 hour tramp to the beautiful Pouakai Crossing lake of reflection. You start at the top of Carrington Rd and it is a beautiful tramp - well marked via the Pouakai Hut where you can stop for lunch. This is a fantastic experience.

My favourite hike on a still day - approx 4 hour return tramp will provide beautiful views. Recommended for fairly fit people

Stunning views and amazing pictures on a clear day. Allow time to get to the tarn and you might find yourself pretty tired after the hike!
