Culcreuch Castle is a castle in the foothills of Fintry. The castle was built in 1296 by Maurice Galbraith and was the clan seat of the Clan Galbraith in 1624, when the Laird of Culcreuch was denounced as a rebel, forced to give up the castle and escaped to Ireland. It was later used to garrison Cromwell’s troops. It passed through a number of families over the centuries, finally becoming a hotel in the 1980s, before closing in 2020 for refurbishment. The castle is a 30min walk from Overglinns West.

Nice restaurant within walking distance. Arrive before 7pm when there isn't a wedding - worth checking, there often is! Steak and linguine are favourites.
