LIFE IN THE WILDERNESS AS A RAFT The rafts of history lived a hard life that was often risky, but it was also free and varied. The community between the rafts was great when living together during the working weeks or longer periods, often in simple huts where the smell of wet clothes was mixed with the oset from coal buns.
