At the end of Phinikoudes promenade on the way to Mackenzie beach is th fort. Built in 1625, during the first years of British rule it was used as a prison. It also contains a small archaelogical museum.

Larnaka fort, which stands on the southern point of the coastal avenue known as Foinikoudes, at the water's edge, was built in the 17th century on the site of a previous fort or castle. Nowadays it hosts cultural and entertainment events and houses a museum consisting of three rooms situated on the upper floor of the main building.
