A lovely park to have a walk, picnic or even a quick hike up the koppie. The koppie is open only at certain times, but the park is open anytime and is a safe and beautiful place to picnic or go for a walk. Restaurants are close by in the Lonehill shopping centre if you would like a sit down breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Lonehill Nature Reserve is fenced and locked. The reserve is unlocked on weekends, and you can hike to the top where you can picnic, or just lay out a picnic blanket on the surrounding grassy areas. There are beautiful views out over Johannesburg from up here. If you sit still you will see birds that include the: black-collared barbet, crested barbet, red-headed finch, African paradise flycatcher, black-headed heron and willow warbler.

What a place to go have a picnic, walk, or climb the mount, where some of the first human remains have been found. Plus a lake to sit in and watch the sun go down at Country Meats restaurant.
