Uvita is one of the closest towns with a beach and roughly 90 minutes away. Plenty of English spoken here as there are more foreigners than locals. Although everything is substantially more expensive (touristy) here, you will find fantastic beaches.
Check out the farmers market on Saturday morning. Fresh and organic produce, artisan crafts, homemade sauces and spices and delicious cakes.
Uvita is an amazing town. The selection of restaurants is unbelievable. You can find everything in Uvita from Sushi to Italian, Mediterranean... It would take weeks to "eat through" all the different places. Love "El Mirador"... the location and the view down to the Whale tales beach is simply amazing. Pizzeria La Fogata is a favorite too... very friendly service. Mosaic Wine Bar and Cafe has really good sushi and other seafood. That is to only mention a few!! Uvita has such a nice feel to it. I love the mixture of friendly locals, tourists and expats. Grocery stores are great and of course the smaller local stores as well. Centro de Carnes Uvita is great for meat purchases! Uvita also has a few smaller boutique style stores for souvenirs and cute Costa Rican presents. There is so much to do around Uvita... Tours, the national park, hiking, swimming, boat tours, snorkeling, fishing, Corcovado tours, chocolate tours, coffee tours, quad tours, yoga...The list is endless. Make sure you have enough days to explore in and around Uvita!!!
