Take the Surfliner south to San Diego or north to LA. Easy to park. Recommend getting tickets online.

The Amtrak train as well as the local Metrolink trains are less than four miles away. There is limited parking in San Juan Capistrano for trips longer than five hours. However, if you UBER or Lyft there, you will eliminate parking worries. This station is located halfway in-between San Diego, to the south, and Los Angeles Union Station, to the north. Each destination is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. You may want to go to Anaheim on the train to reach Disneyland, or Angel Stadium. For parking for overnight trips, we recommend driving to the Irvine Train Station, which has covered, FREE parking.

Take Amtrak or Metrolink for a fun train ride. The ride south to San Clemente or Oceanside or Del Mar is a fun excursion. The tracks run quite close to the beach, so you can get a great view of the sun-bathers and surfers. We have taken the train to San Diego as well. Check Amtrak and Metrolink websites for times and costs. Or visit the booth down by the tracks, during the daylight hours.
