So if you book this experience, there's no risk to get a random temporary "wine guy " with just an average knowledge about French wines. Once you'll be seated in the charming tasting room in the heart of Latin Quarter, you will discover and taste 4 excellent French wines (2 whites and 2 reds) that you will pair with 4 typical cheeses and some pieces of French baguette. After a quick global introduction about French wine, you will go deeply into the wine regions, the labels of French wines, the grape varietals used etc... All information will be shown on a screen while I will explain in a casual and relax atmosphere details and facts. I'm also here to answer your questions! Wines are coming from small quality winemaker and the cheeses are coming from a famous local cheese shop from the Latin Quarter. You can buy the wine you prefer directly in the place after the tasting session.

Literary Latin Quarter

We'll begin our visit with a thoroughly Parisian experience: sitting down together over a coffee. We'll get to know each other and I'll give you an overview of three key aspects of our visit--the history of the neighbourhood, an introduction to some of the fin de siècle poets and writers who inhabited the neighbourhood, and finally talk about the English-speaking writers who called Paris home. Feel free to come with questions! Next we'll set out to explore some of the most charming streets in Paris, stopping along the way to see where a number of writers lived: Descartes, Hemingway, Paul Verlaine, Thomas Paine, Jean-Paul Sartre...You'll be able to read a passage of their work at each site. We'll also see important monuments such as the Pantheon, the Sorbonne and the Church of Saint Germain des Près.

Evening Market Visit Cooking Class

We will meet you close to the market at 4:30 pm. We then head to Marché St Germain and share a Parisian markets overview. We talk about the 5 french cheese families along with getting participants to taste our favorite cheese. We also show people how to choose different types of ingredients, from size to origin to freshness. Back from the market around 5:45 pm, we then cook hands-on appetizer, main and dessert - for about 2&1/2 hours. This is obviously based on traditional French cuisine, with a focus on techniques rather than just recipes, so you can re-apply what you learn back home. We share tips and tricks and quite a bit of the science of cooking to explain the why of certain techniques during that part - we find it to be the best way to help people transpose what they learn. Around 8:00 pm, it is time to have dinner with the chef. We serve white and red wines, share stories using the dishes we have prepared to illustrate various aspects of French culture, and participants also have the opportunity to go back to the kitchen to plate the dishes throughout. It will finish probably around 10:00 pm Please makes sure you are comfortable walking and standing for a few hours to join this experience.

We will share with you our passion for perfumes and we will help you create your customized fragrance. The workshop on FRIDAY AT 5:00pm & SATURDAY AT 5:30pm is IN FRENCH all the others are in English. For 2 hours, we will lead you on an imaginative and inspiring journey during which you will discover the fascinating world of perfumes, from their history to the secrets of their making. You will then create your personalized fragrance by combining two or three of our fragrances within a collection of 24 and you will leave with a bottle of your own blend. A 50ml/1,7 fl oz bottle of your fragrance is included in the price. Additional options are available at the shop : making a second fragrance, engraving your bottle... You can register your formula at the end of the workshop, so that you can reorder in the future. This activity is equally entertaining for men and women, from 10 to 99 years old ! Since this day, many pastry chefs had and continue to have fun with this recipe, like Pierre Hermé or Cédric Grolet. Today, you can come and learn how to bake your 2020 version macarons ! During this interactive cooking lesson, you will be hands-on in the kitchen. Equipped with an apron and all the utensils you need, you will learn how to make your own macarons step by step, also picking the flavour of your choice ! You will be in control of your creations from start to finish, from the moment you lay eyes on the recipe for the first time to the moment you take your creation out of the oven. Over the course of a 1 and a half hour walking tour (entirely in English), we will discover the historic heart of the city with your expert, accredited guide. Paris is known as the City of Light, but we will instead focus on the dark side while exploring areas of the city rarely seen by Parisians. There will be several ghost stories, including the famous ghosts of Notre Dame Cathedral. We will also visit places of true crime such as the famous Demon Barber of Paris (the real inspiration for Sweeney Todd). In the shadows of the impressive and imposing Conciergerie, you will hear about the Reign of Terror and the imprisonment and beheading of Queen Marie Antoinette. You will have the chance to stand on the spot where a French king was assassinated and hear the unbelievable story behind it. The Unusual Culture and History of Paris

The role of killer rabbits in Parisian society, a CIA outpost, the best-worst haircut in history, designer cheese and Saint Genevieve's last procession plus a lot more. This two and a half hour walk through Paris' historic Latin Quarter is packed with offbeat often bizarre stories and symbols echoing in the current day. Instead of telling the height of the Eiffel Tower, we discuss why this most famous icon in the world lost its original message. (Hint: how many democracies existed at its 1889 opening?) The tour, aimed at ages 14 and above only, starts with the gothic masterpiece of Notre Dame along with some surprisingly inappropriate images on its facade. (We do not go inside the cathedral.) We'll then wind our way through the charming 5th arrondissement to ask why the city has a plaque honoring a pornographer and to see a tower built to look down not up. It's a pretty packed tour developed over 15 years of fun walks that rarely follow the same path. I'm an American in Paris with a brutal French accent but a lot of love for everything Parisian including the bakeries. Especially the bakeries. The tour ends near restaurant and transport options and includes an online folder of recommendations for non-typical free or affordable activities in Paris.
