A World Heritage Treasure. My favourite spot - not just for tourists - this is sacred prayer place. There are almost 200 steps into this amazing cave. Try to go close to dawn to avoid caves and participate in the temple offerings. A good place to feed the birds to honour freedom for all.

The Batu Caves entrance fee is free. However, there are a few smaller caves nearby which can be visited. The fee for visiting these caves is between 5 and 10 MYR. Dress respectfully. Similar to most temples in Southeast Asia, you are not allowed inside if you are wearing short pants or short skirts…

“Housing the most exciting collection of animals in the country, the National Zoo is always a fun place to visit. Making this place all the more special is the array of Asian rainforest wildlife, unique to this part of the world. The zoo also acts as a hub for foreign relations, the most recent example of which is the housing of two giant pandas from China, marking 40 years of goodwill.”

“FRIM is the first and most venerable research institute in Malaysia focusing on forestry science, to which its spacious grounds and rainforest acreage are dedicated. Sited adjacent to Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve, it is also a Malaysian Natural Heritage Site, as well as on the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Although actually devoted to research, FRIM opened much of its grounds for public access and use, allowing activities as varied as hiking and mountain biking, to birdwatching and camping, to wedding photography. The best way to get to FRIM is by car. Note that it isn’t a particularly easy place to hail a return taxi, even if it is easy to get one to go there from the city centre. So if you don’t have your own car, it might be best to get a taxi to wait, or try and GrabCar it. ”

“Chiling Waterfall is one of the most spectacular and impressive waterfalls in Selangor. To get there you need to walk for about an hour and wade across the Chiling River five times so you need to have a sense of adventure and not mind getting wet. Attracts many visitors from Kuala Lumpur and those en route to Frasers Hill”
