“Castle Lake is a glacial lake located in the Trinity Mountains, in Siskiyou County of northern California. It is west of Mount Shasta City and Mount Shasta peak. The outlet of the lake drains into Castle Lake Creek, and then into Lake Siskiyou reservoir, part of the headwaters of the Sacramento River. Nearly all of the lake's 47 acres are within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Trails lead from Castle Lake into the adjacent Castle Crags Wilderness area, and on to Castle Crags State Park, including trails to Little Castle Lake and Heart Lake Fishing, camping, and hiking are also available at or near the lake.”

“Pluto's Cave is 6.6 miles from The Juniper Rose. It's a pretty loop through interesting, volcanic, high desert terrain. Below ground, one can explore Pluto Cave, an ancient lava tube that extends over a mile under ground.”

Housed in an historic 1880s brick building with a custom built 300-gallon copper pot behind plate glass walls. The portfolio of spirits includes Craft Distilled Boulder Peak Premium Vodka, Laust Sparrow Premium Gin and Stiller's Cut un-aged whiskey--available for purchase in the tasting room. The Small Batch Hearts Creed Bourbon Whiskey will be available in 2021. The full bar and restaurant is designed around the Mugnaini Wood Fired Oven imported from Italy. The menu includes locally sourced ingredients for wood fired pizza, lunch & dinner entrees, hand tossed salads, custom built strombolis & seasonal menu items.”

“The Sacramento River is one of the most impressive natural resources in all of California, and if you are visiting the town of Mount Shasta, you can take this quick stop to visit its humble beginnings. Mount Shasta City Park, on the outskirts of town, features the start of the river and has become an almost spiritual spot for people to visit and drink from. I saw a half dozen people come fill up water bottles while I was there. It is a peaceful place for a quick visit and here is all the information.”
