Ancil Hofmann is one out in place for rafting. ( or pick up) depending on where you get in. Ancil Hofmann also has a nature Center with animals for kids to see.

It has a small wildlife museum, shady park on American River, swimming area, golf course, and 3 mile trail. Wild turkeys, deer, and birds.

Great park for walking and swimming in the river, although a little further away in Carmichael. To avoid paying to park, one can find street parking (Palm and San Lorenzo in Carmichael) and walk in (follow palm on the right).
