A miniature church inside the cave, situated above the small village Murvice near in the foot of Vidova gora rocks, was residence and temple of Glagolitic priests of 15th century. It is reachable only by a walking path. Inside the cave there are numerous reliefs of pagan mythology and Christianity characters carved out in live stone between which is to emphasize a relief of a dragon after which this cave was named. Origins of a rare specimen of Croatian Glagolitic first print of missal from 1483, today preserved in the Dominican Museum in Bol are from this area.

Zmajeva spilja (Dragon’s cave) is situated on the south side of the island, underneath the cliffs of Vidova gora and over the village of Murvica. It can be reached by the picturesque walking path (around 40 min. walk).

This is a very interesting sight to see available only through a licensed tour guide. During this hiking tour, which lasts about 4 hours (the climb is approx one-hour long and not too steep), the tour guide explains the history of the cave but also the history of the island. You will learn a lot about history, culture, way of life and get a more profound impression of the place you have decided to visit.

The Dragon’s cave is situated 300 meters above Murvica, a small settlement on the southern sloppes of the island Brac, five kilometers from Bol. It is monumentous celebration of the hermite life in the sanctuary of the cave riddled with the reliefs, figures and shapes, some as yet not entirely understood. Appeasing the pagan and the Christian belifs, rich in ornaments and marked by abundance of meanings, the Dragon's cave is not likely to leave you indifferent.

On the steep rocks of Vidova Gora, close to Mrvica next to Bol, there is an interesting cave, Zmajeva Špilja. An unmarked shepherd trail leads to this site. Zmajeva Špilja is only twenty meters long but abounds in the traces of hermits that once dwelled here. On the left side of the cave, there is a figure of dragon carved in a rock, and next to it, but also on other points in the cave, there are other carved reliefs.
