The fountain “Zerkal’naya Struya” (The Mirror Stream) is one of the most outstanding architectural constructions in Kharkov and is under protection of UNESCO. This arbor and fountain is located on Sums'ka street in the Victory park in front of Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and is considered as the one of the symbols of Kharkov, its visiting card, one of main attractions and one of the seven wonders of the city. According to the official version this fountain, “The Mirror Stream”, was built in 1947 by architect Korzh in honor of the Victory in World War II.

According to official version “Zerkal’naya struya ( “Mirror Stream” ) was erected in 1947 in honor to the Second World War Victory. The city legend says: The fountain was built by soviet high ranking official as a copy of fountain which is situated in Kislovodsk , as a “present” to his young beloved in memory to vacation which they spent together. Now Mirror Stream has become a city’s symbol, there is a tradition of just married couples come there to make photos. In the evening there are a lot of young couples having a sit on the benches and enjoying time! This is a place which is not just worth seeing but where having a rest as well!

Фонтан Зеркальная струя был построен в 1947 году в честь победы во Второй мировой войне. Сооружение памятника и сквера, в котором он находится, обросло городскими легендами. Так, одни утверждают, что фонтан распорядился построить Хрущев, который пребывал в то время с визитом в Харькове. Другие же предпочитают более романтическую версию, согласно которой фонтан построили по приказу одного из секретарей коммунистической партии, после того как его возлюбленная восхитилась аналогичным фонтаном в Кисловодске. Как бы там ни было, фонтан до сих пор функционирует и считается одним из главных символов Харькова. Приходите посмотреть на Зеркальную статую вечером, когда вся композиция зажигается иллюминацией.
