Our family goes for a hike in this community, and we have several family members who live on Black Mesa and between Navajo National Monument and Kayenta, Skeleton Mesa. It has the most pristine intact natural environment, and is Free. Camping is free there as well.

The wheel chair accessible paved trail goes from the visitors center, to an Aspen Canyon overlook of an Anasazi Village nestled in a cliff. Representative pieces from the village are on display inside the visitor's center which has educational modules on the Anasazi. The program is one of the best…
