This unique tower clock is located over an arch that leads into one of the major shopping areas of the city. Its large Astronomical Clock is a masterpiece of engineering and technology, while the two giant statues in bronze (traditionally known as "The Moors", a young one and an older one) strike the bell hourly. Curiosity: the Old Moor strikes the bell two minutes before the correct time, to represent the time has gone, while the Young Moor strikes it two minutes later, to represent the time to come.

ITALIANO La Torre dell'Orologio è anche detta anche la "Torre dei Mori", costruita nel 1499, in Arte Rinascimentale, da Mario Colucci. È una delle straordinarie bellezze di Piazza San Marco, si erge sulla bocca dell'Antica Merceria, la via commerciale di Venezia di cui era la porta d'ingresso (ora la via dello shopping di Venezia). Alla sommità della Torre si trova una terrazza sulla quale campeggia una campana, che viene battuta a martello allo scandire di ogni ora da due figure di bronzo scuro: "I Mori". Si tratta di due pastori, Il Moro barbuto è denominato il "vecchio" e il Moro "giovane". I Mori segnano le ore battendo la campana coi loro martelli (tanti rintocchi quante sono le ore), ma con una precisa modalità. Il Moro Vecchio batte l’ora due minuti prima dell'ora esatta, a rappresentare il tempo che è passato, mentre il Moro Giovane batte l'ora due minuti dopo per rappresentare il tempo che verrà. Scendendo con lo sguardo si nota il Leone Alato, stemma di Venezia e un terrazzino semicircolare, da dove ad ogni "Festa della Sensa" per una settimana sfilano i Re Maggi preceduti da un Angelo. Al di sotto del terrazzino si vede il grande Orologio Astronomico di Piazza San Marco, in oro e smalto blu. Di straordinaria complessità è il sistema delle indicazioni astronomiche, basato su sistema geocentrico. L'orologio indica lo scorrere delle stagioni, le fasi lunari, le ore e lo zodiaco. ENGLISH The Clock Tower is also known as the "Torre dei Mori", built in 1499, in Renaissance Art, by Mario Colucci. It is one of the extraordinary beauties of Piazza San Marco, it stands on the mouth of the Antica Merceria, the commercial street of Venice of which it was the entrance door (now the shopping street of Venice). At the top of the Tower there is a terrace on which stands a bell, which is hammered every hour by two dark bronze figures: "The Moors". They are two shepherds, Il Moro bearuto is called the "old" and the Moro "young". The Moors mark the hours by striking the bell with their hammers (as many tolls as there are hours), but with a precise modality. The Moro Vecchio strikes the hour two minutes before the exact time, to represent the time that has passed, while the Moro Giovane strikes the hour two minutes later to represent the time to come. Going down with the gaze, you will notice the Winged Lion, the coat of arms of Venice and a semicircular terrace, from where at each "Festa della Sensa" for a week the Maggi kings parade preceded by an Angel. Below the terrace you can see the great Astronomical Clock of Piazza San Marco, in gold and blue enamel. Of extraordinary complexity is the system of astronomical indications, based on a geocentric system. The clock shows the passing of the seasons, the phases of the moon, the hours and the zodiac.
