The only place on Fire Island that offers shops, restaurants, beaches. Can only get there by private boat or ferry.

The beach is awesome. Go outside your door and walk 100 feet and you're there.

The famous Fire Island is a unique feature of Long Island - you can't even get to these beaches by car, so there are no cars on this long string of islands. I've never been but it seems amazing!

Natural Feature
“Fire Island's Sunken Forest is a rare ecological community. This type of maritime holly forest is found behind well-established sand dunes along the Atlantic coast from New Jersey to Massachusetts. According to the New York Natural Heritage Program, the Sunken Forest was ranked as "globally rare," meaning there are few remaining occurrences of this assemblage of plants throughout the world. You can request a Fire Island water taxi to take you to Sunken Forest.”
