“Belmont Lake Boat Launch Belmont Lake State Park, located in West Babylon is a 463-acre day use park bisected by Carll's Creek and Belmont Lake. The park, established in 1926 had been owned by August Belmont and served as farmland for some of Belmont's equestrian activities. Robert Moses chose this park to establish the regional headquarters for all state parks on Long Island in 1935, which serves the public today for region-wide permit sales, park administration and as headquarters for the New York State Park Police. The park is primarily visited by families seeking outdoor gatherings, picnics, and informal sports activities. There is also boat rentals for rowing in the lake.”

“A maze of landscaped hiking trails with awe-inspiring vistas. Created to honor the tragic death of Paul Simons, the concept of the preserve is to get the hiker lost in a maze of beauty in nature. There is a vista of the Long Island Sound with Harmony Vineyards in the foreground that makes a perfect romantic photo op. ”

“Fire Island's Sunken Forest is a rare ecological community. This type of maritime holly forest is found behind well-established sand dunes along the Atlantic coast from New Jersey to Massachusetts. According to the New York Natural Heritage Program, the Sunken Forest was ranked as "globally rare," meaning there are few remaining occurrences of this assemblage of plants throughout the world. You can request a Fire Island water taxi to take you to Sunken Forest.”
