İstanbul'un Fethi öncesi, Bizans'a Karadeniz'den gelebilecek yardımları engellemek amacıyla İstanbul Boğazı'nın kontrolünü ele almayı hedefleyen Fatih Sultan Mehmet'in emriyle, Anadolu Hisarı'nın tam karşısına 1451-1452 yılları arasında inşa edilmiştir.
Rumeli Fortress, located in the district of Istanbul Sarıyer district of the Bosphorus. It was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet directly opposite the Anatolian Fortress in order to prevent attacks that might come from the north of the Bosphorus before the conquest of Istanbul.
It was built by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II between 1451 and 1452, before he conquered Constantinople.
Rumeli Fort is one of my favourite spots in the city. It enjoys the most stunning views over the Bosporus, the Sultan Fatih bridge and Bebek. It's pure joy to stand over its walls and admire the scenery while being enchanted with the lush surroundings and the turquoise waters of the Bosporus…
Rumelihisarı (also known as Rumelian Castle and Roumeli Hissar Castle) is a fortress located in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Turkey, on a hill at the European side of the Bosphorus.

“Although it's a bit of a schlep on the suburban train to get out to Yedikule, this commanding fortress is well worth it. Built in the 5th century.”

“Located in Sultanahmet, Topkapı Palace was the official residence of the Sultans for four centuries from the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans. It is built on the edge of the Seraglio, a strategic location in the entrance of the Bosphorus Strait. It extends over 70 hectares and at the time was like a city within the city. The palace had four courtyards , gardens , kiosks and fountains. More than 4,000 people lived there including a thousand women in the harem. These days as a visitor you can admire the gorgeous rooms of the palace, and collections of works and objects such as weapons , jewelry and clothes from the Ottoman court through the ages . Open all week except Tuesday from 9am to 5pm.”
