Sure, Salt & Straw is great. But if you don't want the long wait, Fifty Licks is always in the conversation about the best ice cream in town.

Salt n' Straw may be better known, but I prefer this other Portland ice cream place with unusual, gourmet flavors, but less waiting time. The ice cream and cones are fantastic!

“I'm not a huge fan of mixing sweet and salty or sweet and savory, but I tried a bite of the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy and they do their bacon right (crispy but not burnt)! My go-to is and always will be Fruit Party; just because it's supposed to be on the sweeter side doesn't mean they make it sickeningly sweet. I'd say their Belgian waffles are pretty authentic, too! Pro-tip: They also sell frozen waffles, if you think you'll want more than just the one waffle that comes in a dish ;)”
