Still untouched by commercial hotels and private development. Catch a boat owned and operated by a local fisherman to Sana Island, snorkel and return to the beach to eat fresh caught sea food. YUM!

Definitely a place to go. We have been several times at Punta Rucia, visiting this place will be an awesome experience. Playa Punta Rucia is located 67 km east of Montecristi. Its beautiful white sand is lapped by calm turquoise waters. In addition, this beach offers a breathtaking view of the mountains. Visitors travel from here to Cayo Arena every day to snorkel on the shore of the small island right next to the large coral reef. Punta Rucia itself is a charming and quiet beach with a few restaurants and bars. A quiet, sheltered lagoon surrounded by mangroves also offers a good opportunity for bird watching. Don't miss to visit Punta Rucia ....

The most amazing snorkeling of your life. Take an excursion there, it's about a 2 hour drive there, but well well worth it! You will go out to a sandbar and swim in a snorkeling zone that will blow you away.

Punta Rucia is a cape and beach located specifically in the province of Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), in the bay of La Isabela and quite close to the town of La Isabela, the first European settlement in the New World. It is a very peaceful cove and its main attraction is the Cay Cay where you can see a lot of multicolored fish, at a very low depth. Its beaches are white sand and transparent water that calls for enjoyment. In various restaurants located in its surroundings you can enjoy food based on fresh seafood. The name "Rucia" was given by Christopher Columbus because of the brown or rucio color of the animal
