Well worth a visit to see this historic harbour. Poldark was filmed here. There are various places worth visiting such as the Longstore and Deli.

Charelstown is super close. A foodies Dream just inshore from the freshest sea food farm, famous for beautiful tall ships and its historic china clay port that has been taken up by local entrepreneus to become a smorgasboard of fun for a balmy night.

The Harbour itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the UK's only open, working 18th century port. It was formerly a busy China Clay port and today remains a popular filming location for movies & TV. Visitors can now walk, without charge, around the historic inner harbour walls - you can get up close to traditional wooden tall ships and there's some new food & drink pop-ups. The Rum Sailor (a little speakeasy style bar hidden in a former china clay dry) and HarbourQ (a smokin harbour BBQ) are our favourites. There are two beaches on either side of the harbour - the biggest is on the left hand side. Great for swimming. Sadly these beaches aren't dog friendly between April - October.

Fans of BBC’s ‘Poldark’ will be familiar with the starring role that the stunning Cornish locations play in the TV series. Keen-eyed viewers will have spotted one very special location, the atmospheric late Georgian port of Charlestown, near St Austell. Surrounded by rich heritage, the quaint Cornish village boasts some of the best eateries in Cornwall, The Longstore, The Boathouse, and Edie's Kitchen to name a few. We recommend booking early at these to avoid disappointment.

Charlestown is a historical harbour often home to tall ships which are always a great photo opportunity and talking point. Charlestown has also been used many times for filming for tv and movies. It has a variety of pubs, cafes, restaurants and pop up bars on the harbour side in summer months.
