Rocha da Pena

Rocha da Pena walk (well marked) is not very long, about 6.9 kilometers but impressive. The first climb is a challenge and from below you wonder if you'll ever get at the top of that huge rock. Once at the top the view is impressive and the flora surprising. Rocha da Pena is gorgeous!
Great for rock climbing and where the Bonelli eagle (Aquila fasciata) has been seen.

“From the Castle of Loulé are still some castle walls and a tower over. At the same time a visit at the archaeological museum is interesting (at the same place). Remains can be seen further in the Rua da Barbacã, Largo da Matriz and Rua Rainha D. Leonor. In the old town you may find Islamic and Turkish baths.”

“Every town has its own particular features - São Brás de Alportel notably in the production of cork and which now hosts a costume museum in what was once a cork producer's house. The exhibits are always worthy of a browse and the grounds are tranquil and equally full of interest, with galleries and a cafe, which are open during the week.”
