Nairobi Terminus is a railway station on the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway located in Syokimau, just south of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Two passenger trains leave the station everyday, an inter-county train that stops at all stations and an express train that goes directly to Mombasa Terminus.

The Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is a standard-gauge railway in Kenya that connects the large Indian Ocean city of Mombasa with Nairobi, the country's capital and largest city. This SGR runs parallel to the narrow-gauge Uganda Railway that was completed in 1901 under British colonial rule. Wikipedia Opened: 31 May 2017 Status: Operational Line length: 578.8 km (359.6 mi) Electrification: None, upgrade planned Operating speed: 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph) (passenger); 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph) (freight) Ridership: 1,665,627 (2018) Operating since mid-2017, Madaraka Express or the SGR, as it is popularly known, has two types of trains; the Intercity and County Trains. The Intercity Train is the express service between Nairobi and Mombasa while the Inter-County Train will make stops at the intermediate stations namely; Athi River, Emali, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Maisenyi, and Voi. The Madaraka express has become the preferred mode of travel by a lot of people and therefore advisable that you book your ticket in advance. The Tickets are open to book up to 60 days in advance. The trains have two ticket classes, First class, and Economy class. First Class is made up of 2+2 per row configuration across the car width. First-class passengers, also have access to a restaurant coach which offers a basic choice of snacks and drinks. The Economy Class has a 3+2 per row configuration across the car width with 2 rows facing each other and a tiny table in between. Economy class passengers can purchase snacks or drinks from the catering cart which is wheeled between the coaches at various times in between the journey.
