Some old architecture and a playground. I really don't see the hype about this place but it's supposed to be touristic.

The most iconic site in Colombo, Independence Memorial Hall is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for the commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule.
Independence Square remains one of the nicest places to relax in Colombo, especially in the evenings. In addition to the memorial hall itself, there's also the huge sprawling green lawn outside, the memorial museum, the Arcade next door, and even hoppers at Walkers' Cafe.

Buddhist Temple
“The Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara or Kelaniya Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, seven miles from Colombo. The Chief Incumbent (Chief Priest) is Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera. The temple has often been associated with the rise and fall of Ceylon / Sri Lanka, with the popular saying that as the Kelaniya temple rose, Sri Lanka rose and as it fell, the country and its administration fell. It has thus had a deep association with the political powers of the country. ”

“It is a green space stretching along the Indian Ocean, with beautiful views you’d love; especially the sunsets. Families often gather here to enjoy an evening stroll and cheer the sun down. Kids play and flykites. Sporty fellows choose this place for their training. And there’s plenty of street food. Fun time guaranteed!”
