In a city overrun with screens, there are few recently updated ones that don’t feel like spaceships. Set in a brutalist council block with a surreal feel, this cinema’s exterior is replicated inside thanks to a brilliant refurb that put concrete surfaces everywhere. Between the decor, the mint tea selection, and the reclining seats, I’m a huge fan. Book a two-seater couch for date night. Thank me later.
If you need legroom, stick to films at the Renoir screen, unless you don't mind sitting in the front row at the smaller screens. Also, stick to the central area at the Renoir for a good viewing angle.
Great for documentaries. Bloomsbury is a great place to walk around, Russell Sq, etc.
Aesthetic cinema with nice architecture and great movie selection. Shows a lot of documentaries too. The screens are relatively small, but its very cozy and you get nice sofa chairs. My favorite cinema in London. (a bit pricey tho)
Small arthouse cinema, focused on independent films, with underground screens and bar.
