Alfie is very intimate and an all-around authentic jazz club. It’s the first one I ever went to in Tokyo on my first trip to Japan. The founder is the brother of Terumasa Hino, a very famous Japanese trumpet player, and I was touring with him. Listen to the music from the door, and if you like what you hear, get a table. Even when artists or bands aren’t playing live at Alfie, the music is still really good—they have an amazing record collection.
