Larnaca Salt Lake changes look throughout the year. It's worth to visit it in different period of the year.
Walk around the lake along the linear trail, approx. 4 km, to the old aqueduct of Kamares. Go back the same way, and visit the Hala Sultan Tekkesi mosque. Do the walk, preferably in winter as the place is the home to migrating birds, including flamingos.
Visit the Salt late during the afternoon for scenic photos of the sunset with an amazing view. If you are lucky enough you may get the chance to see also the well-known flamingos.
Larnaka salt lake is one of the most important habitats in Europe for water fowl. Scores of flamingos , wild ducks and other water or shore fowl find refuge here in winter on their migratory journeys. “The Pierides Museum - Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is the oldest private museum in Cyprus, and is housed in the ancestral Pierides family home - a colonial-style building built in 1815. “Here you will find some traditional restaurants but also some very modern places to eat. You may have your coffee at Cafe Nero( self service) and enjoy it in front of the beach. We really enjoy that place when we are there. There is also a small playground for the kids. ”
