Beautiful, quiet place to sit in the many hides and watch the local wildlife. A few kingfishers, egrets and plenty of other birds to see. Even had a visiting Osprey this summer (2022) which attracted many zoom lenses. Dog friendly beach at the very end which is never crowded, walks up along the coast path, beautiful views across to Anglesey, Puffin Island and Llandudno.

Spinnies Nature Reserve is very close to Bangor, and is situated on the edge of the Menai Strait at mouth of the River Ogwen. This nature reserve, along with Traeth Lafan which is connected to it, and Morfa Madryn and Morfa Aber, all three of which are managed by Gwynedd County Council, is one of the top locations in Wales to see wildfowl and waders. Spinnies consists of a small woodland with a series of ponds and a lagoon, Aberogwen Lagoon. The lagoon and ponds were created when a sharp bend in the River Ogwen was deliberately cut off to form a lake, making Spinnies the ideal home for numerous species of birds and many other animals, plants and insects.
