Današnja katedrala Srca Isusova u Sarajevu ima svoj korijen u srednjem vijeku i povezana je s katedralom sv. Petra sredinom trinaestog stoljeća u Vrhbosni na području od današnje Skenderije do Marin dvora. Od te katedrale sačuvan je oltarni kamen s natpisom: „Apostoli Petri Vrbos…“ i danas se čuva u Zemaljskom muzeju u Sarajevu.

Visit Sarajevo Cathedral. The building is in the Neo-Gothic style, with Romanesque Revival elements. The building was awarded to the Viennese contractor Baron Karl Schwarz with supervising architect Josip Vancaš. He modeled it after the Notre-Dame in Dijon (France). Work began on 25 August 1884, and was completed on 9 November 1887.

The Sacred Heart Cathedralis the largest cathedral in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was build in 1887 in the Neo-Gothic style, with Romanesque Revival elements.
