Schlappen is a nice german bar with a great atmosphere, it's a good place to have a good time having a beer and food from the region. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big.

Like you would expect, there are tons of restaurants in Freiburg where you can eat traditional German cuisine. If you’re in the mood for a pub-style atmosphere, snag a booth at Schlappen, which is located in the heart of the Old Town. With a variety of beer, whiskey, wine and even absinthe (yes – absinthe!), Schlappen is the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Traditional German food, pizzas, pasta and salads are on the menu as well!

This is a good local pub for all generations. Here you find many locals before going out or just sitting.to have a beer. Also note the large list of the whiskies they propose.

Es gibt wohl kaum einen Freiburger, der noch nie im Schlappen war... Ein traditionsreicher Treffpunkt, aufgrund der Uninähe typischerweise für Studenten, jedoch nicht nur. Im Schlappen treffen sich Freiburger und Touristen aller Altersstufen. Im Angebot sind neben zahlreichen Getränken (tolle Absinthkarte!) auch Speisen, hier bekommt Ihr quasi das Rundumpaket für einen zünftigen Kneipenabend zu durchschnittlichen Preisen. Die praktische Lage direkt in der Stadtmitte, führt allerdings dazu, dass es, gerade am Wochenende, sehr voll sein kann. Ein besonderes Erlebnis, auch in historischer Hinsicht, bietet der Gang auf die Herrentoilette, allerdings will ich nicht zu viel verraten...
