The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens covers 27 hectares of land and features a variety of 10,000 trees and shrubs. A magnificent lake attracting many birds is the centrepiece of the Gardens, while the wedding chapel, shaded picnic areas and nature themed playground are also a drawcard. A network of boardwalks and pathways encourage visitors to enjoy the Japanese and Chinese gardens, Australian rainforest, prehistoric garden, friendship grove, fern garden, bamboo, sclerophyll woodland, bromeliad garden, rare fruit tree orchard, woodworkers guild, Hinkler garden and palm grove. The Gardens are also home to a range of attractions including Hinkler Hall of Aviation, Fairymead House Sugar Museum, Bundaberg and District Historical Museum, Cafe 1928 and the Australian Sugar Cane Railway, making the gardens a key tourist destination.

On the north side of town, the gardens have a large children's play area, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, Hinkler House, the Australian Sugar Cane Railway, Fairymead House Sugar Museum, the Bundaberg and District Historical Museum, Chinese Gardens and Cafe 1928. You should check each attraction before going as they are generally not open 7 days a week The children's playground is fantastic. The Sugar Cane railway operates Wednesdays and Sundays from 9am to last train at 3:30pm, but it does run more frequently during the school holidays.
