Want to hike into the center of a real volcano? Here you go. Beautiful during wildflower season, and a fun place to spot chuckwallas and desert iguanas (as well as rattlesnakes, so be careful!). Please avoid during summer as the black volcanic rock helps superheat the area.

Beautiful, hour-ish hike up a crater. Great views from the top. The little town of Amboy is a nearly abandoned old town with beautiful old buildings you might recognize from movies. Sometimes there are art shows in the abandoned motel.
