Lovely walk on main road between Whangarei and Tutukaka. Worth a 20-30 minute stop to stretch your legs, also has toilets.
The Whangarei Falls walk has lots of shade for hot summer days. Start at Whangarei Falls - Otuihau and walk down to the bottom of the waterfall and follow the river. There is good parking with toilets and a nice place for a picnic or a coffee.
Otuihau Whangarei Falls is a picturesque waterfall, falling vertically for 26.3 metres over basalt cliffs. Three viewing platforms allow easy access to the dramatic views and a circular walk around the falls allows them to be seen from all angles
Whangarei - Interesting tall falls seen from an easy stroll just past carpark, or down a lovely bush track to view from the bottom pool looking up

“Waipu has a proud Scottish heritage where you can learn the stories of the early settlers of the area in the Waipu Museum. Not only that, the museum has displays on some of the world’s greatest migrations of the Scottish Highlanders who travelled to Nova Scotia, Australia and then Waipu. There’s also information on heritage trails where you can visit more historic sites around the town.”
