Called the Cathay Cinema it shows arthouse and independent movies and in school holidays, current and popular children’s movies. “This is the "go to" in town if you're after a pub food style meal and environment (otherwise go for The Pioneer up the road in Waipapa). "OK" meals, drink selection and service. ”

“Makana Chocolates & Café. An attractive and bustling café for a rather expensive imported croissant and coffee or for a more kiwi and perhaps more child-friendly option visit the Kerikeri Bakehouse for a pie and a drink further down the hill on Kerikeri Road. Don’t miss out on the Makana Chocolate Shop next door to Makana Café to see the making process and which also serves a free sample upon entry. Their Macadamia Brickle is to die for!”

“ Two of New Zealand's oldest buildings are situated in the Kerikeri Basin. Kemp House and the Stone Store are the only survivors from the Church Missionary Society's second Anglican mission to New Zealand, founded in 1819 on land granted to the Reverend Samuel Marsden by the powerful Nga Puhi chief, Hongi Hika. Kemp House is the oldest surviving European building in New Zealand. The Stone Store is the country's oldest surviving stone building.”
