To provide a place to preserve and display artifacts and objects for the public’s education and enjoyment which illustrate the history of South Lincoln County.
To collect and preserve any and all materials of genealogical and local historic value. Such materials, including but not restricted to land records, school records, photographs, newspapers, letters, books, articles and maps, will be kept in an indexed and orderly manner and will be made available during museum hours or by appointment to interested members of the public for their individual research.

Sightseeing
Heceta Head Light is an iconic lighthouse on the Oregon Coast 13 miles north of Florence, and 13 miles south of Yachats. It is located at Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint (a state park). Built in 1894, the 56-foot-tall lighthouse shines a beam visible for 21 nautical miles, making it the strongest light on the Oregon Coast.

Kids can handle local marine life in touch tanks, attempt to build Lego structures that will withstand waves in a wave tank, watch cool videos about local marine topics, and snoop on a giant Pacific octopus, the center’s many-armed ambassador.

Kids can handle local marine life in touch tanks, attempt to build Lego structures that will withstand waves in a wave tank, watch cool videos about local marine topics, and snoop on a giant Pacific octopus, the center’s many-armed ambassador.

Kids and adults alike will love diving beneath the ocean’s surface to go nose to nose (nose to snout? fin?) with a variety of sea creatures, from spider crabs to sea otters to salmon. The aquarium’s current rotating exhibit, Secrets of Shipwrecks, delves into the mysteries of underwater archaeology sites, and includes lots of activities specifically aimed at kids.
