The most popular starting point for a trek up Ireland's highest mountain is an eight minute drive from White Cottage Barn. Hike through the Hag's Glen to two lakes circled by the mountains. Consider hiring a guide for a hike up Carrauntoohil, as it is a serious mountain walk, and should only be attempted in good weather.
