China's largest public forum and the resting place of the Chairman. The square is public space, so no line. But to get into the Mausoleum, there is usually a line. Mao Zedong is on display here.

Need to wander the alleys to get here, but it's a great walk or ride, plus bars, cafes, pool halls, parks and eats all around.

A life-saver in the back alleys. Fresh baked breads, cheeses, foreign beers and wines. Nothing like it inside the 2nd Ring of Beijing, honestly a huge reason I took this apartment.

No subway here yet, but every taxi driver knows where Beijing's art center is located. And from my place, just south of the 2nd Ring, quick to get to since the highways are easy to jump on.
