It's not a bar, it's not a nighclub, but just along the waterfront is a gated restaurant/bar scene that is the coolest thing Managua has to offer. Restaurants and booze, yes... but dancing, so much dancing, and it's not tourists, it's locals. Awesome fun!

Arts & Culture
Not visited by folks from abroad, this theatre has some fun stuff on offer at really great prices. Nicaragua's arts scene is somewhat missing, courtesy of war and poverty, and this iconic theatre really is the building block for the future, and so it's great to get behind them...

Teatro Nacional Rubén Darío
Not visited by folks from abroad, this theatre has some fun stuff on offer at really great prices. Nicaragua's arts scene is somewhat missing, courtesy of war and poverty, and this iconic theatre really is the building block for the future, and so it's great to get behind them...
Shopping
ONLY locals... I just love it because it's the "old Nicaragua," and you're only rubbing shoulders with Nicas. Up in the ceiling is the foodcourt, and probably the elevators won't be working so you'll build up an appetite with your ascension. In the foodcourt, people are smoking, drinking booze, singing karaoke, all whilst the kiddies eat some Maccas (McDonald's). It's the most fun you'll ever have in your life. It's deafening and not at all private. It's Nicaragua!!!

Mercado Roberto Huembes
Pista de La SolidaridadThis is pretty much the safest place to shop for tourists. You can pretty much buy anthing here. Street food is good. You don't have to pay an entry fee, but there are always people there asking for money. It's also a hub for transportation for ALL OVER the country...
Essentials
This is where all points meet for our end of town... It's the way to Leon, to the city, to the airport... People meet at the gas stations just here. Busses stop here. Down the hill along Carretera Sur is the American Embassy. You can get passport photos here, your tyre repaired, your hair cut, there's a church. Plenty of street food here, and the cheapest supermarket is just towards the city, Pali. Just up the hill is a gas station with fastfood chicken shop attached. Grab something to eat and then sit out the back... the views of the volcanic crater are awesome, and this is also the place where the Americans are acusing the Russians of spying from - living history!

All around here there are heaps of bars, restaurants and a coffee shop (The only one around). The food ranges from good cheap street food to fairly sophisticated restaurants. The views of the Laguna de Nejapa are pretty stunning, but just about everyone very cleverly put all their seating facing the road.

Just one dollar on a bus from Mercado Oriental. This is where the locals go to have fun. Nobody sits on the beach with their towel like an Aussie, they rent a table and hammock from a ranchon. Meals are under $15, or you can just pay for the space. The beach is fun, but be careful. Horses, pigs, oxe & cart, motorbikes, cars, quadbikes, you name it... Everyone and their dog(s)'s welcome here!!!

This is a great gym close to our house. We can get there by moto-taxi. Also, one of the only cafe's is right in front. Lots of shops/restaurants around too (plus a pharmacy), so you can get stuff checked off your to-do-list before/after working out!
