The Carrefour (2 min by car, 5 min by bike) is open every weekday from 8:00-20:00 and weekends and (most) holidays from 8-18.00! Here, you can also quickly pop in and use the juice machine for fresh squeezed orange juice to go with breakfast (or lunch or dinner).

Gerhagen ( 5 min drive, 12 minute bike ride, 40 minute walk from our home) is the Tessenderlo entrance to the Merode Natural Reserve, which has hundreds of kilometers of walking, (mountain) biking, horse-riding, paths through pure nature. In Gerhagen there are numerous cafes to stop at at the start, in the middle or at the end of a day spent in nature. There at the VVV tower, there is also a lovely newly renovated playground and forest museum which we and our children love.

This local cafe/bakery introduces fresh baked pastries with the 'normal' cafe experience. They also offer breakfast/brunch where you can choose the breakfast buffet or order a la carte. Both are decadent so come with an empty stomach.

There is giant indoor haystack that no kid can resist jumping into. There is also a small indoor petting zoo and stalls as well as outdoor farm to visit all sorts of different farm animals. There is also a cafe overlooking a playground for parents to unwind while the kids cut loose;-)
