Make time to look at the World Heritage Area information outside the centre before heading off to experience the scenery and walks.

Meet some of the friendly locals at this free, weekly, timed, dog-friendly walk, jog or run on the Tasmanian Trail and through Sykes Sanctuary every Saturday morning. Meet at Lions Park on Saturday morning at 8:45am.

Wallabies, echidnas, bandicoots and possums live here, and there are burrowing crayfish on the Tasmanian Trail boundary to the south east.

Walk starts and finishes on O'Neills Road, Gowrie Park.

Mountain Bike Trails

Railton is in the centre of the Wild Mersey MTB network. Railton Express is an 11km MTB trail connecting Railton to Latrobe. Teleport and Green Hornet are a few hundred metres up the road from Base Camp Railton and there's a pump track even closer in Goliath Park. The Tasmanian Trail is an easy ride through to Sheffield and will connect riders to the Badgers Range MTB trails from December 2020.
