70% of the Island is National Park, and of all of Vic National Parks its the most weed free. Nearly 100 species of Native Orchids, 248 species of birds, Koalas, Potaroos and no foxes or European rats.

The only National Park Carmping site in the National Park. Its a beautiful site with camping in the Tee Tree just behind the Bay Beach.

6 return ferries shuffle back daily between mainland Stony Point and French Island jetty (Tankerton). On a Saturday first ferry across is 7.40am (next 10am) and last off is 6.45pm. Trip takes 15 mins.

One way to get to French Island from Melb is to catch the train. Its a MYKI service taking 1.5 hours. Train arrivals connect to the Ferry to French Island. Walk from Train to Ferry is about 5 minutes.

Some people visit French Island by Vehicle or "walk On" using the "the Barge". Services run on higher tides by appointment, but most days there are many services. A "Walk On" is $20, car $200 return.

Why not visit French Island in style and get a real perspective of the Island - by Helicopter. Its $285 return per person (assuming 2) but certainly something unique, cheaper with 3 or 4.
