Food Scene
The menu is the creation of famed chef Panayotis Papanikolau and his equally famous student and owner of the restaurant Giorgos Kantelis who comes from the island of Kassos. The concept is simple, using the best local and healthy ingredients they have dishes from all over the Greek Islands and mainland. My favorite dishes are any of the mussel entrees, especially the ones from Mytilini cooked in ouzo, the dolmades, makaronades with cheese and crispy onions from the Peloponessos, and any of their dozens of mezedes, entrees, grilled meat and fish, salads or desserts. If you can only eat in one restaurant in Athens this should be the one!

Foibos cafe caters to an 'older crowd' of writers, musicians, poets and people who read books instead of fashion magazines and their music reflects this, playing jazz, blues, classical and sophisticated pop and rock music.

Half way up Fokionos Negri is the old Demotiki Agora built in the 1930s and which was at one time a smaller version of the central market on Athinas street. For those who saw the seventies film 'For The Love of Benji' the Agora has been immortalized as the place where Benji the dog steals a string of sausages and runs down Fokionos.

Not only does he bare an amazing resemblance to John Cusak in the movie High Fidelity, but he has just as many albums. If you are a vinyl collector then this place will be like paradise for you. He has over 180,000 albums, CDs and DVDs. If you are looking for something in particular just ask him!
