Food Scene
This is another new beach bar/restaurant, very elegant with beautiful facilities, fancy sun-beds (free if you buy something), pools and a beautiful restaurant and bar. The beach here is not very wide so they have put sun-beds in many levels of the area which is interesting but you might need your slippers to get to the beach.

This taverna looks a bit touristy but, from what I've been told by my parents and my guests, the food is really good and the prices are very good as well. Maybe the best choice if you want something as close as possible to our house.

It offers a great number of choices ranging from traditional Greek recipes with modern twists to more international choices. The price is great for the quality and portion that you get. Make sure to book ahead if you want to have dinner there.

A traditional café (kafenio) which is very affordable for coffee or drinks. They also make some meze dishes to enjoy with your drinks. Nice spot for people-watching, right above the sea.

Limenas is the main town of Thassos and it is worth going there at night. There is a pedestrian area full of shops and a lot of people visit it every night. There is also a small fun park for kids.

Panagia is a very beautiful picturesque village very close to Golden Beach. It has its own springs and you can taste fresh water in at least 2 water fountains around the village. The houses are built with rock and they give a traditional feeling. There are many shops and cafeterias. Once you're there, park your car just outside the village and follow the path to the village's church. On the 14th and 15th of August ( Dormition of the Theotokos Day - a national holiday) there is a local festival with an open market and many people visit Panagia to pray or just experience the celebration.

Archangelos Monastery. An all-female monastery with remarkable views. If you are dressed inappropriately and you want to visit, it's ok because they will provide you with a decent attire there.

I discovered this place in 2017, after some guests suggested it to me. I wasn't even aware of its existence, but I was amazed. It's a very small and picturesque village on top of the mountain with stunning views. If you go there, please visit the traditional kafenio and do dare to play the games that Mr. Kostas is setting up for you. Please mind that there are some dangerous cliffs, so if you go there with your kids, do not lose sight of them. You might also see goats and other animals wandering around.

I discovered this place in 2017, after some guests suggested it to me. I wasn't even aware of its existence, but I was amazed. It's a very small and picturesque village on top of the mountain with stunning views. If you go there, please visit the traditional kafenio and do dare to play the games that Mr. Kostas is setting up for you. Please mind that there are some dangerous cliffs, so if you go there with your kids, do not lose sight of them. You might also see goats and other animals wandering around.
Abandoned building, designed by Italian architect Arigoni in the early 20th century. It was used as the headquarters of a German company which was operating the mines in the area. Around it, you can find the remnants of mines. It sits at the top of a hill and offers a lovely view of Limenaria, especially at sunset.

If you want to feel the vibe of young campers and nomad travelers, you can enter the camping area and get to the beach. There is a cafeteria and a mini-market in the camping's facilities which are open to everyone.

Drive slowly and have in mind that you'll probably need to wash your car once you're back because of the dirt and dust.

Most beach bars have free sunbeds if you buy something, but you can also just go with your own beach towels, umbrellas etc. Greek beaches are considered a constitutional right in Greece, so no one can deny you the right to enjoy it for free, except if you are in a private beach (very rare occasion).

This is where the hiking path to mountain Ypsario starts. Please be careful if you go hiking in hot weather. Make sure you have plenty of water with you.

The infamous Giola is a natural pool formed by rocks. Absolutely avoid going during peak tourist season (July-August) as you will be disappointed. That said, it's very crowded nowadays and sadly not worth it most of the time...
