Wonderful chef Abe and great host Mark - make a fantastic selection of western and Japanese foods. Great location near piste and your apartment (5 minute walk) and great sake and drink selection as well as real coffee. Also wonderful indepth knowledge of local attractions. Always great music on as well, sometimes live!

Dan's yurt bar is fantastic - warm and cozy after a great day out ! It has a great selection of food snacks and also a wonderful selection of Japanese sake and a wide selection of divine whiskey from around the world. The fireplace, groovy tunes, wood and friendly staff create a truly great place to hang out in.

The hot spring is wonderful with a lovely indoor and outdoor bath, sauna and cold pool. The perfect way to relax! There is also some gambling options available and a wonderful restaurant and bar to unwind with a lovely fireplace to chill by.

Obuse was home to one of the most famous Japanese landscape painters - Hokusai. It now houses has a fantastic art museum showcasing his and other artists talents. The town has many beautifully restored Edo period farm and merchant homes, you can shop and try local delicacies and purchase equisite hand crafted souvenirs. The town also has one of the oldest Sake breweries, open for tasting and you can enjoy a tour and sample over 10 finely brewed Sake masterpieces. Each one is served with an accompanying snack to highlight each subtle difference. It is difficult to leave empty handed.
